He scored a stormy half-century in just 24 balls against Pakistan and made the world record for the fastest half-century on ODI debut. Earlier this record was in the name of Indian player Krunal Pandya who scored a half-century in 26 balls.
Pakistani cricketer’s son’s blast
Mohammad Abbas is the son of Pakistani-origin cricketer Azhar Abbas. He was born in Lahore Pakistan but later his family moved to New Zealand. Abbas took cricket training there. In his first ODI match he played an explosive innings of 52 runs in 26 balls which included 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Chapman’s century and Mitchell’s contribution
Apart from Abbas’s stormy innings Mark Chapman also showed amazing performance. He played a brilliant innings of 132 runs thrashing the Pakistani bowlers. Daryl Mitchell also scored 76 runs to take the team to a strong score. New Zealand scored a huge score of 344 runs in 50 overs.

Pakistani bowlers’ efforts went in vain
Irfan Khan was the most successful bowler for Pakistan. He took 3 wickets for 51 runs in 5 overs. Apart from this Aaqib Javed and Haris Rauf took 2-2 wickets. However Pakistan’s bowlers looked lifeless in front of New Zealand’s aggressive batting.

Mohammad Abbas made the record of scoring the fastest half-century on ODI debut by scoring a half-century in 24 balls. Earlier Krunal Pandya (26 balls) Alick Athanaz (26 balls) Ishan Kishan (33 balls) and John Morris (35 balls) had done this feat. Now Abbas has reached the top of this list.
