IPL 2025: Bhuvneshwar Kumar has become the highest wicket-taking fast bowler in IPL history. He achieved this milestone during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians on April 7. He dismissed Tilak Verma and took his total wickets in the tournament to 184. This makes him third overall in the list of top IPL wicket-takers.
Dwayne Bravo’s Record Broken
By taking 184 wickets Bhuvneshwar Kumar has now gone past Dwayne Bravo who had 183 wickets from 158 innings. Bravo held the top spot among fast bowlers for many years but Bhuvneshwar has now claimed that record. Lasith Malinga is next on the list with 170 wickets in 122 matches.
Other Top Fast Bowlers in the Race
Jasprit Bumrah is also climbing the charts with 165 wickets from 134 matches. Umesh Yadav is at number five with 144 wickets. Among these Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah are still active in IPL 2025 and could continue to rise in the rankings.
Tilak Verma’s Wicket Was the Turning Point
Though Bhuvneshwar gave away 48 runs in his four overs he took a crucial wicket in the 18th over. Tilak Verma was batting brilliantly and had scored 56 runs off 29 balls. His dismissal shifted the momentum and helped RCB secure a 12-run victory.
Consistent but Not Dominating This Season
So far Bhuvneshwar has taken only three wickets this season. He missed the opening match against KKR but has played all other games for RCB. While his line and length have been impressive he has not yet managed to take many wickets in this season.
