IPL 2025: Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has suffered a major setback after registering a win against Mumbai Indians. The BCCI has imposed a heavy fine on Pant. Apart from this LSG bowler Digvesh Singh Rathi has also been fined. Captain Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate. At the same time Digvesh Rathi has been fined 50 percent of the match fee. He celebrated in a different style after dismissing the batsman while bowling.
IPL released a press release regarding Rishabh Pant
In a press release issued by the IPL it has been told that Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during the 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday. As this was his team’s first offence this season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct which deals with minimum over-rate offences Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 12 lakh.
Digvesh Rathi gets demerit point
Celebrating also proved costly for Lucknow Super Giants bowler Digvesh Singh Rathi. During the match played between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians on Friday Digvesh violated the IPL Code of Conduct. For this he has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee. This was his second Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season and hence he has also got two demerit points. He got one demerit point in the match against Punjab Kings this season. The decision of the match referee for Level 1 violation of the Code of Conduct is final and binding.
LSG vs MI Match Status
Talking about the match played between Mumbai and Lucknow LSG batted first and scored 203 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. For Lucknow opener Mitchell Marsh scored 60 runs in 31 balls. Aiden Markram also scored a half-century he was dismissed after scoring 53 runs in 38 balls. Chasing the target of 204 runs Mumbai Indians scored 191 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 12 runs. Suryakumar Yadav scored the highest 67 runs for Mumbai. In bowling Hardik Pandya took 5 wickets for Mumbai Indians.
